Carnegie Library - Carrick Branch

This two-story library building in Pittsburgh's Carrick neighborhood replaces the existing, outdated 1-story Carrick Branch of the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh.

Designed to the Passive House building standard, the new 9000 sf structure features superior indoor air quality and thermal comfort as well as generous natural light. The library's design is the product of a participatory community process that guided the team in creating two design scheme options for the client. This Passive House project is the first library to be certified as such in North America. This building received the 2019 MBA Building Excellence Award in the category of new construction under $10,000,00.
