Benedictine Sisters - New Convent
The new 31,000 square foot Benedictine Sisters Convent consists of 40 private rooms each with a private bath and walk in closet and ten of which are designed to meet accessibility standards so the elderly Sisters can age in peace. The public areas consist of a communal dining area with commercial kitchen, a 50 seat chapel, library, activities room, conference area, and administrative offices.
Massaro Properties, LLC and the Massaro Corporation, performed several constructability and feasibility studies for the sisters and provided research on available land and buildings that could possibly accommodate their unique requirements. After much deliberation and prayer, it was decided to sell the existing structure and build new.
The new 31,000 square foot convent, located at 3526 Bakerstown Road near Richland Community Park, provides for 40 single-room units with private bathrooms and walk-in closets; a 50-seat chapel; dining room and commercial kitchen; a beauty salon and library. In addition, the central living area includes a decorative wood and ceramic tile gas burning fireplace, and a baby grand piano.
