North Village Housing - Phase II

North Village Phase II is the second and final phase of on-campus student housing at Allegheny College. Massaro Corporation and WTW Architects were selected as the design/builder through a competitive RFP process.

North Village Phase II is the second and final phase of on-campus student housing at Allegheny College. Massaro Corporation and WTW Architects were selected as the design/builder through a competitive RFP process.

The new housing provides:
Approximately 76,000 square feet
232 beds in a combination of 2 bedroom and 4 bedroom suites
A four-story, masonry bearing, precast plank structure with brick veneer
Central laundries and trash/recyclable
collection by floor
A common multi-purpose room with full-service kitchen and additional laundry equipment
Design development documents were January 2009 with GMP pricing. Once contract awarded, construction
commenced April 2009
Project delivery date scheduled for June 2010 for an August 2010 occupancy
It was mandatory for the Meadville City Design Advisory Committee to accept the streetscape appearance and
building context/appearance on
North Main Street.
Site utilization was developed to
complement Phase I and provide
pedestrian friendly corridors and amenity space with rain gardens, walks, and a court yard area for public gatherings

Some of the sustainable features for this LEED Gold project include:
Eco-star rated shingle roofing
HVAC system fed via (50) 500'deep
geothermal wells located on confined site
100% certified green power
Bike and tenant storage
Lighting occupancy sensors
Water fixtures with low flow and dual flush toilets
Low VOC materials
Recycled content and regional sources were utilized
